Johnny Mambo:

Having been raised in Spanish Harlem, Johnny grew up listening to Salsa music. His biggest influence in music was his Dad, who had a six-piece band for over 25 years. The band played merengue, trio, salsa, and Christmas music.

Johnny Mambo started playing congas with his dad at the age of 8 years old. At the age of 21, he met yet another influential figure, Mr. Eddie Iglesias (his music angel). Eddie was a well-known musician in the salsa genre circle. Eddie inspired Johnny to live his dream of forming his own band.

In 2005, Johnny Mambo formed his band, now known as Johnny Mambo & Friends. Johnny Mambo & Friends are currently a house band Red Rooster Harlem (every Tuesday for the past 5 years).

Johnny Mambo & Friends has had the pleasure of performing at the following venues over the years: Castle Hill Craft House (once a month for 1 year); Angel of Harlem; Orbits (weekly for 3 years); Camaradas (monthly for 2 years); Aji Bar Lounge (monthly for 1 year); BB Kings; Dirck Norseman (now Greenpoint Beer and Ale); Isla Cafe BX; Mon Ami; Lorraines Bar & Grill; Mi Casita; Visions; Corner Social; Harlem Creates Festival (2015); The Oskar Schindler Performing Art Center (New Jersey – 2015 & upcoming June 2016) & multiple private events for Bacardi Rum & Puerto Rico Tourism; Harlem Eat Up Festival (2017); Brentwood Salsa Festival Long Island (2017)
